The perfect combination: BigCityBeats and Hardwell set a new record
40,000 party in a sold-out Veltins Arena

40,000 visitors packed into Gelsenkirchen’s Veltins Arena last Saturday for the BigCityBeats WORLD CLUB DOME Winter Edition featuring the I am Hardwell – United We Are concert and helped set a new record in the process: never before had a single DJ filled an entire German stadium. A magnificent collaboration between BigCityBeats and the Number 1 DJ of the World, HARDWELL.

“This is my first time in Gelsenkirchen. When I was starting out, if someone had told me I would one day fill a whole stadium as a DJ, I’d never have believed it. It’s absolutely mind-blowing to have set this new record today with BigCityBeats here in the stadium. It was my best concert ever,” said Hardwell right after the event.

The Winter Edition of the WORLD CLUB DOME is proof positive that BigCityBeats are one of the biggest European live-event brands and that they can fill stadiums and have become one of the best addresses for the world’s top DJs.

“For years now we’ve been packing out large venues with BigCityBeats emotions. We’re proud to have teamed up with Hardwell, Alda Events and the Veltins Arena to set this record and we’re proud to be supporting Hardwell’s United We Are Foundation,” said Bernd Breiter (CEO of BigCityBeats GmbH).

50,000 euros for the Hardwell “United We Are” Foundation

BigCityBeats and Hardwell form the perfect symbiosis when it comes to breaking records in Germany. BigCityBeats original idea was fleshed out with Hardwell before being brought to fruition as a joint event. That explains the low ticket price of 19 euros, which includes a €1 donation to Hardwell’s charity foundation, “United We Are”. And so it was that at the press conference in the afternoon Hardwell was presented with a cheque for over 40,000 euros for his foundation. Bernd Breiter of BigCityBeats and Moritz Beckers-Schwarz (Managing Director of FC Schalke 04 Arena Management GmbH) contributed another cheque, bringing the total donation to a whopping 50,000 euros.

“Wow, I’ve just been given 50,000 euros for the United We Are Foundation. A huge thank you to the fans, to BigCityBeats and to the Schalke Arena,” said Hardwell after the presentation.

Hardwell and BigCityBeats added to the Wall of Fame

At the press conference BigCityBeats and Hardwell also had their names added to the Wall of Fame of the Schalke Arena. Managing Director Moritz Beckers-Schwarz presented the award to Hardwell and Bernd Breiter (CEO of BigCityBeats GmbH), and made the following observation: “BigCityBeats and Hardwell sold more tickets over three days for this event in the Veltins Arena than Helene Fischer and AC/DC. And we want to honour that achievement with an induction into the Wall of Fame!”

Said Hardwell after his performance: “I always feel great at any major BigCityBeats event. The organisation, equipment, sound, stage… everything’s perfect. And as for the atmosphere here, performing in front of 40,000 fans… I felt the hairs stand up, really.”

But the DJs don’t just feel at home at the large-scale events. The BigCityBeats radio format, too, is home to the world’s best DJs. David Guetta has just signed up for another year presenting his exclusive radio show on BigCityBeats. And BigCityBeats broadcast Hardwell’s Hardwell On Air radio show across Germany.

Hardwell will also headline for the BigCityBeats WORLD CLUB DOME 2016, scheduled for 3rd to 5th June 2016 in the Commerzbank Arena. The news was announced live in the Veltins Arena in front of 40,000 fans at 11pm, as Hardwell left the stage following his encore.
